Hamster Care Video

It is very important to take care of our class pet the best way that we can. So, I have posted a video about basic hamster care. I will require all of my students to watch this video before they can handle our class pet. Enjoy the video, and it probably wouldn't hurt to take notes on the video so you can remember it more easily.

Class Pet

This year we will be having a class pet! I know all the students are super excite about him. We got a hamster, and the students will all vote on what his name should be this Friday. The top three choices are Hammy, Freckles, and Mr. Cheeks. Having a class pet will teach the students responsibility and how to take care of another life. I am looking forward to see how the students react to the new addition to our classroom. I will be posting updates about his progress along with other pictures.

Extra Credit

Each week I will give out extra credit assignments for the students if they need to earn back any points. The assignments will be easy, but related to something we are talking about in class. Students will have from Monday to Friday of that week to complete the assignments.
Week 1:
Bring in a picture of you and your family so that we can get to know you better. On Friday, for those of you who brought pictures in, you will be sharing them to the class and telling us a little bit about you, your family, and where the picture was taken.

Here is an example of a picture of my siblings and I.

Math: Pg. 28 in the book- questions 2 through 20 evens
Science: Read pages 10-12 in the book and take notes
English: Have the first chapter of Stuart Little done by Wednesday
Social Studies: None

Social Studies

The focus of third grade Social Studies is to learn more about the United States and its history. Some of the main topics we will be focusing on will be how our nation got started, our government, and our geography. I believe the study of country is very important and I know we will have a fun time studying it. Throughout the year I will continue to update you, the parents,on what we are learning in Social Studies.

English

I am so excited for this year's reading list! We will be reading Stuart Little and James and the Giant Peach. These were two of my favorite books in third grade, so I can't wait to share them with my new students. I think it would be a great opportunity to have your child read a couple of chapters to you so they can show off some of their new reading skills. Throughout the year I will continue to update you, the parents,on what we are learning in English.
